It’s Weekend , It’s Sunday , It’s 2 more days to Valentine Day !
Thanks very much to my companion , my driver , who planned this brunch session well 😉
a) PRAWN PASTE WINGS
This prawn paste wings tasted generally normal , nothing fantastic. But what had drawn my attention is the belachan chilli here !
Limey taste and spiciness right on the point and the chilli isn’t watery. We wouldn’t have been able to finish this plate of wings without this fantastic chilli dips !
b) DRUNKEN PIG
This drunken pig seems to have the same taste of its paste , as their prawn paste wings. I like this pork collar for its thin slices , which is very chewable and doesn’t make you feel too stuffy or oily just after a few pieces. It’s definitely good for tea break snacks .
This time , some sweet chilli sauce for a dip but I would much more prefer the bela-chan chili dips instead.
c) POTATO & FISH
BREAK THAT SUNYOLK ! Yes , by breaking that sun yolk and letting the yolk blend in together with the seabags fish and rosti , it’s a perfect combination !
This is another absolutely comfortable and must try dish if you wanna go for something fishy instead of meaty.
d) BACON STEAKS BREAKFAST SET
Yes if you aren’t on diet and doesn’t care bout fats like I do ( for the day) , this is probably one good choice for its warm aroma gushing through your nose once it’s served in front of you !
The pan fried bacon steaks so evenly heated , with very fragrant seasonings and sprinkles of black pepper . Harmonious combination with a warm bed of mashed potatoes and mashed eggs, this is perfect for breakfast or brunch !
e) BLACK SEA
Squid ink spaghetti with shrimps , fried squids and some shrimp roes.
Alright, this is disappointing. not as what I had expected. Or perhaps I would say it’s pasta is made in its own uniqueness, but it’s not that stringy and slurpy as what I thought normally how spaghetti would be like. This pasta is dry and lack of some light olive oil or water to make it just slightly succulent.
f) HEI ! RICE
Oh so i have seen many photos about this squid ink rice , every photos well snapped and look amazing !
And apparently this is NOT over-rated and it’s legit good ! Every bits of it’s fine rice has a light crisp which definitely has been cooked with a well management of heat to produce this slight crisp rice , yet not overcooked or hardened rice.
But just a personal preference that , the mentaiki sauce may be too much and caused it to be over cheesy , and as such it’s too filling .
There’s many other dishes that i wanna explore here still , and this first experience left me very pleasing , and i will definitely return for more !
FOOD : Great for brunch and seems like the day menu looks more appealing to me , than it’s dinner menu . Good quality for it’s price too.
SERVICE : Friendly services and our needs are attended to as and when , even though we are sitting outside of the cafe which is quieter and less noticeable.
AMBIENCE : I love it especially if it’s a windy and less warm weekend , so i can just pick the seats outside of the cafe and chill peacefully while eating. Personally i don’t like to take seats inside the cafe where everyone is chatting and buzzing. But definitely , inside cafe seats are spacious and loads of laughters filling the atmosphere !
