OMAKASE @ HAKUMAI SUSHI

It’s while researching on some omakase places to dine in Singapore, that I came across Hakumai Sushi.

Situated in a pretty quiet office building at Tanjong Pagar, It’s a pretty small and cozy shop to accommodate some casual dining at the tables as well as few counter seats.

1) APPETISER

here we were served Noresore / Conger Eel Whitebait, with a dash of “momijioroshi” (freshly grated daikon and chili pepper) and served in vinegar.  Yes , this is amazingly fresh for a start , especially how slippery each strand of sea eel is , while you slip one by one into your mouth !

2) STARTER

image3

Second starter we had fried jacket fish , dipping with mayonnaise. This taste chewy like fried puffer fish . Kind of unevenly fried , as you can see from the colors, but still tasty as ever !

3) SASHIMIS

Guess everyone can name most of the fishes found here , as I always described them in my sushi blogposts.

Summing up my favorites in this platter : Geoduck Clam with dried caviars, thick salmons ( very thick !! ) and Yellow fin tuna .

Freshness on its point, thickness definitely .

4) MAIN DISH

Here comes our main dish ! ok , not very Japanese style . But here’s boston lobster in warm cheese , with mushrooms, cherry tomatoes and green pepper.

I would honestly say , this is nothing fantastic.

5) SOUP

Lobster soup comes next , coated much with flower eggs( basically beaten eggs) and sliced onions. The ingredients used seem similar to Chinese way of cooking , pretty much suitable for Asian taste buds.

Very sweet and rich broth .

6) CHAWANMUSHI

Very warm steamed eggs ! it’s obviously just heated and served straight . Every bit is still hot and to be consumed with caution.

7) SUSHI PLATTER

I’m very much filled and much odne with my meals when this huge platter served in fornt of me . I don’t really like the aburi-ed suhsis , it’s also my bad I forgot to inform the chef .

My picks : ootoro sushi (Very long & thin slice ! ) , ootoro with sea urchin sushi bowl .

8) DESSERTS

My desserts is simple yet pleasant with my fav umeshu jelly .

FOOD : Freshness on point, thick sliced of sashimi making sure you leave the restaurant rubbing your tummy with satisfaction

SERVICE : Friendly service and not long awaiting time .

AMBIENCE : Mostly families and working adults dining in after working hours.

Food Tasting: 3.7 /5
Decoration: 3 /5
